On Saturday Josh and I went to our first Korean baseball game, the Incheon SK Wyverns vs. the Seoul Nexen Heroes.
Josh’s Korean friend from work, Beck and his wife invited us to the game.
The food selection was different compared to an American stadium. We had chicken on a stick and beer, (we kept it simple). Other food items I observed – tteokbokki, noodles, and dried squid. (Every now and then you would see someone with a tentacle hanging out of their mouth). I also noticed that some people brought bags with their own snacks in them.
The chants from the crowd were in another language but the hand motions were easy to follow. Both teams had Cheerleaders (which I am not used to seeing at baseball games). I think the literal translation for them is “show girls.” I didn’t have my camera with me but here is a video of a past performance on youtube.
We didn’t catch any baseballs but we had a few close calls. The security guards blow their whistles when a ball is hit into the audience. It’s very loud if you are nearby.
Overall the experience was not that different from a baseball game in the U.S., the rules of the game are the same and the crowd was very enthusiastic.
We left at the top of the last inning so we could avoid traffic, but Incheon was winning by a landslide.
For dinner we had Italian food at the Skyview Restaurant. Josh had the Spaghetti Bolognese and I had Lasagne. The food was great and the view was fantastic, (we were on the 41st floor and could see the ballpark from our table).
It was a great day.

It sounds like you and Josh are having lots of fun there. I love following your blog.
Take Care,
